disney-presidents-day

Even though the month of February doesn’t hold any huge holidays like Thanksgiving or Christmas, there are a couple that is worth noting. In a previous blog, we covered what it would be like to visit Disney World on Valentine’s Day, and now it’s time to turn our attention to Disney Presidents Day, which immediately follows.

Visiting Disney over Presidents Day weekend might not seem like a huge deal, but like all holiday weekends, there are a few things that you should definitely know. We’d like to make sure that your trip goes as smoothly as possible, so we’ve put together some quick facts so that you can know what to expect.

Valentine’s Day Will Still Have a Presence

if you arrive at Disney World over Presidents Day weekend and it seems that love is in the air, then that isn’t your imagination. Since Valentine’s Day takes place just a few days before President’s Day, then you’re bound to find some leftover remnants of the lovey-dovey holiday.

FastPasses are a Must for the Weekend

Like other holiday weekends, Presidents Day weekend will be quite busy. This is probably partly due to the fact that Valentine’s Day takes place just before then, so you’ll probably get a little bleed over from that holiday. This doesn’t mean that you should avoid visiting during this specific weekend, however. It simply means that you should take advantage of the FastPasses that will keep you from missing any of the rides or attractions that you would like to enjoy.

Lively Activity is a Good Thing for the Kids

While everyone seems to prefer visiting Disney World when the crowds are lighter, the fact is that kids often get more enjoyment out of their visit when there are crowds of people around. That’s because kids feed off of the activity that’s going on around them. Therefore, when the park is more lively, your children will often enjoy themselves even more, especially if there are a bunch of other kids around because they’ll see them having fun, too.

Seasonal Refurbishments Will Shut Down Certain Rides

The majority of attractions at Disney World over Presidents Day weekend will be open to the public, but there are a few that will be shut down. This is because the month of February is when Disney performs seasonal refurbishments to some of the park’s water rides. This means that Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, and Kali River Rapids will not be in operation. But, of course, there are many other rides for you to enjoy throughout Disney World.

You Can Stick Around for the Princess Half Marathon

Sticking around after Presidents Day will enable you to take part in the Princess Half Marathon. This annual event takes place from February 22-24 and includes a half marathon of 13.1 miles, in addition to a 10K and a 5K. And any children over the age of five can participate in the 5K, so you don’t have to leave your youngsters out of the fun as long as they’re old enough.
