Universal Studios New Attractions at Epic Universe.

Over the years, Universal Studios has taken on many huge projects. The biggest ones in recent memory were The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, followed by Super Nintendo World in Japan and Hollywood. But Epic Universe in Orlando will be the biggest and most ambitious undertaking since the studio first opened its doors in 1990.

Once completed, Universal Studios will cover an incredible 750 acres, which means that Epic Universe will cause the theme park to double in size. There’s not a lot of information available about this incredible project, but today we’re going to share with you what we know about it and some of the many rumors circulating right now thanks to the incredible theme park internet sleuths who have made it their mission to find out everything they can.

When Will Epic Universe Be Ready for Visitors?

Universal Studios Epic Universe has been under development for several years, but construction had to be paused in July 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Luckily, work started up again in March of 2021, though it did take some time to completely re-staff all the positions and return to full speed. Although an exact date has not been officially announced, Universal expects to open Epic Universe in the summer of 2025.

What Can We Expect the Map to Look Like?

The map will reportedly consist of a Central Hub along with four themed lands: Super Nintendo World, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, How to Train Your Dragon, and Universal Monsters. The entrance will consist of large arches, an armillary sphere, a celestial garden, a centerpiece fountain, and other unique design elements along with what you normally expect from.

Universal Studios theme parks include retail shopping areas, food court dining areas, etc. You’ll move from land to land through ornately designed portals that add to the experience, with specially designed spires that correspond with the unique land that they represent.

What Attractions and Rides Will There Be?

Universal Studios has been very secretive about the details of what types of attractions and rides will be featured throughout the Epic Universe. Not to be deterred, internet sleuths have been analyzing the ongoing construction, permits registered with the city, detailed schematics, and whispers within the community to figure out what is most likely to be expected.

As of right now, most of these are only rumors (though many are backed up by tons of evidence), but here’s some of what’s been gleaned so far in terms of the main Universal Studios Epic Universe attractions and rides:

Central Hub

The main attraction will be a dueling coaster that’s reportedly going to be themed toward space travel and will most likely be called Starfall Racers. Two sets of coasters will run side by side throughout much of the ride but will deviate briefly as they invert in opposite directions toward the middle of the ride. A second circular structure appears to hold either a spinner ride or possibly a carousel. There are rumored to be two other coasters or other such rides as well.

Super Nintendo World

Super Nintendo World has already been a huge hit in both Japan and Hollywood, and it’ll definitely continue its success in Orlando. This is actually the only one of the four lands that has been officially confirmed by Universal. It will open with the Mario Kart ride, Yoshi ride, Donkey Kong coaster, and power-up band activities. This will be the largest land in any of the Universal Studios theme parks.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter has been extremely successful for Universal Studios, so it should come as no surprise that they would want to expand upon it. Although it appears to only be rumors (at least while this is being written, things could change at a moment’s notice), it’s expected to explore the Ministry of Magic. If what we’ve heard is true, this will be the largest ride in the Epic Universe and will be called Battle of the Ministry of Magic.

This exciting adventure is expected to feature scoop ride vehicles with upward and downward movement, Death Eaters, an escaped magical creature that uses animatronics to chase each ride vehicle, projection effects, and a whole lot more.

How to Train Your Dragon

This land will be themed after the Isle of Burke from the first How to Train Your Dragon movie. To learn how to fly your dragon, you first hop aboard the Dragon Racer Rally, which seems to let you control the intensity of the ride, allowing you to barrel roll as often as you’d like. In addition to this spinner ride, there’s also a roller coaster that prepares you for riding a dragon.

Finally, it appears that the How to Train Your Dragon land will feature an interactive boat ride where guests can spray other guests with water cannons as their boats pass each other.

Universal Monsters

Universal was saved from financial ruin thanks to its classic monsters, and this land might just be a love letter to that event. If the rumors are true, the land will be heavily themed after Frankenstein, Dracula, the Wolfman, and their respective siblings and assistants. Throughout the area, townsfolk are always “at the ready” for creatures of the night, with stakes, crossbows, and other weapons hanging on the walls in the restaurants and around town.

There will be a classic monster ride that takes place inside a creepy mansion. The story details are unknown, but one possibility is that someone has restarted Dr. Frankenstein’s experiments and released all of Universal’s classic monsters, along with modern versions.

A second ride, an outdoor spinning roller coaster, is also being constructed and is rumored to be based on the Wolfman. A large area for a third attraction has been assigned, but no details have been made available yet. However, some believe that this may be for a future Creature of the Black Lagoon ride.
