How many attractions can you experience at Universal Studios?
Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida, is known for its amazing collection of rides, attractions, events, restaurants, and so much more. Rides are what many visitors get most excited about, so it’s no surprise that we often get asked, “How many rides are at Universal Studios?”
The number seems to change almost annually. But for today’s discussion, we’re going to look at how many rides are currently at the park and then focus on some of our favorites.
How Many Rides Are There at Universal Studios?
As of this writing, there are a total of 31 rides between Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure. This easily beats out Universal Studios Hollywood, which currently has a total of 12 rides. This number will be eclipsed in 2025 with the opening of Epic Universe, which will almost double the size of Florida’s theme park. We’re not sure how many additional rides there will be, but we imagine that there could be a dozen new ones or even more.
Our 10 Favorite Rides at Universal Studios
Perhaps the best thing about Universal Studios is that there isn’t a bad ride to be found. Every single ride offers fun and excitement for the entire family. It’s really hard for us to choose our favorites, and we had to sacrifice a few that we absolutely adore, but here are the ones that we never miss every time we go there:
Jurassic World VelociCoaster
Jurassic Park and Jurassic World are now two of the most popular franchises in existence. This amazing roller coaster encapsulates the fun and excitement of these incredible movies by taking you on a high-speed adventure through the park’s raptor paddock. You’ll race alongside these fast and ferocious predators, soaring high above them at breakneck speed.
Jurassic Park River Adventure Ride
Although the VelociCoaster gets a lot of attention these days, the Jurassic Park River Adventure ride continues to be a classic favorite. We have no doubt that it will someday be changed to a Jurassic World ride like it was at the Hollywood location, so now’s the best time to jump on this water excursion. This ride starts out peaceful enough, but when you come face-to-face with a giant Tyrannosaurus rex, the only way to go is straight down an 85-foot plunge into the water.
The Simpsons Ride
No matter how many times we go on The Simpsons Ride, it never gets old. This simulation ride takes you on a trip through Krustyland with all your favorite characters, including Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie, in an exciting Springfield adventure.
Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts
Although this indoor steel roller coaster has pre-ride warnings about high-speed thrills, it’s actually a family-friendly adventure. As you might expect, your three favorite heroes—Harry, Ron, and Hermione—are along for the ride as you attempt to evade the evil Voldemort and the nefarious Bellatrix. This is only part of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and it’s a great place to start.
Flight of the Hippogriff
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter has proven to be one of the most popular areas of Universal Studios of all time, and Flight of the Hippogriff keeps the excitement going. Jump onboard this fun roller coaster as it spirals and dives around familiar landscapes, including Hagrid’s hut. This ride means even more to fans now because you get to hear the voice of Robbie Coltrane, who sadly passed away last year.
Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem
Perhaps you’ve never dreamed of becoming a minion, but now’s your chance anyway. Since this ride is based on Despicable Me, it’s probably no surprise that it’s very much geared toward children, but even adults will find it very endearing. Also, if you have really small kids who don’t meet the height requirement, there’s stationary seating available so that everyone can enjoy it.
Revenge of the Mummy
We’re not sure exactly what it is about Revenge of the Mummy that we love so much, but this ride is definitely one of our favorites. We love to take someone new on this ride who’s never been on it before and watch their face as it takes off in the beginning. During this dark ride, you’ll hear plenty of people around you screaming – probably more excited than scared—and we guarantee that you’ll want to get back into the line as soon as it’s over.
The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man
Everyone’s favorite webslinger is back in action in this amazing Spider-Man ride. Equipped with a high-tech pair of 3D glasses, you’ll join Peter Parker as he tries to get back the Statue of Liberty. The ride features a 400-foot free fall, a cameo by the infamous Stan Lee, and more thrills than a normal human should experience.
Skull Island: Reign of Kong
Universal has tons of famous monsters, but King Kong is definitely the biggest of them all. Skull Island: Reign of Kong is an amazing ride that pits the colossal ape known as King Kong against prehistoric predators and other dangerous creatures. The most vicious fight will be with the Tyrannosaurus Rex, and this might finally be Kong’s undoing, if Godzilla and Kong survive in 2024.
Transformers: The Ride 3D
If you’re looking for a ride that’s more than meets the eye, this is it. As you might expect, this ride pits the incredible Autobots against the nefarious Decepticons in an ultra-immersive thrill experience that blurs fiction and reality. Optimus Prime and Bumblebee can’t wait to take you on the ride of your life against the evil forces of Megatron.
