Approaching the Flight of the Hippogriff
The Care of Magical Creatures lesson highlights Buckbeak the Hippogriff. The magical creature possesses the wings, head, and front legs of an eagle and the tail, body, and hind legs of a horse. To avoid danger, riders must follow the proper etiquette when approaching the Hippogriff. Riders are taught lessons on how to show respect towards the Hippogriff before starting the test flight. Guests will be asked to bow before the magical creature and proceed to the lift hill.
The minute you begin to ascend into the sky, you will hear Fang shout a bark or two. The roller coaster will circle the pumpkin patch, spiral and glide over the Forbidden Forest, and swoop past Hagrid’s Hut. Harry Potter fans will appreciate the scenes that highlight the attention to detail taken from the books and movie sets. As you reach the peak, you will find yourself flying over the grounds of Hogwarts Castle and gazing at the entire Wizarding World. The spectacular view will leave you in amazement. A few more dips and turns, and you safely land back on the Hogwarts Grounds. The ride comes to an end as Hagrid thanks you for a successful test flight aboard the Hippogriff.
