Some interesting Disney World facts your children will enjoy.

Disney World truly is one of the greatest places on Earth and there’s little doubt that everyone reading this knows quite a bit about the park. You know about the characters. You know about the rides. You know about the food. Oooooh… that glorious, glorious hood. It makes us salivate just thinking about the Dole Whip and Mickey waffles!

Okay, back to the point. While you may seem to be an expert or connoisseur of all things Disney, we’re guessing there are a few things about the park that you don’t know. Today, we’re going to give you some interesting Disney World facts that you can share with your children and may find interesting.

Interesting Disney World Facts – The Park Is Twice the Size of Manhattan

Just one visit to Disney World and you’ll notice just how massive it truly is. This is why you often need a Disney VIP tour and more than one day to see everything. Most people don’t realize that it’s twice the size of Manhattan and the same size as the city of San Francisco. The entire park is a total of 40 square miles, which will give you plenty of opportunity to burn hundreds of calories in a single visit.

Disney World Being in Orlando Is a Misnomer

Check the Disney website or any place advertising the park and you’ll notice that it always presents itself as Disney World Orlando. The funny thing is that the theme park is actually located in Bay Lake, which is next door. Orlando is the accepted location of Disney World because it’s the larger, more recognized neighbor. Plus, many people come to Orlando to see other sights, as well.

Disney World Is Often a Fan’s Final Resting Place

Millions of people love Disney World, but some love it so much, that they want it to be their final resting place. It makes sense when you think about it. Once a person is cremated, they often want to have their ashes spread out to sea or in some location that they’re familiar with. Although Disney often refutes the idea and absolutely doesn’t allow it, there are too many stories of fans having their ashes spread throughout the theme park for them all to be made up.

Interesting Disney World Facts – The “Emu” Myth Continues to Live On, But It’s False

One of the most pervasive of the interesting Disney World facts is actually a myth. Years ago, an ex-employee who had become famous told an audience that the turkey legs at Disney World were actually from emus. If you’ve heard this story, just know that it’s not true. In fact, it’s very easy to debunk. All you have to do is look up emus and take notice of the size of their legs. A single emu leg could feed a family of three for at least a couple of days.

Cinderella Castle Features a Secret Hotel Room

Most people have no idea that there’s a hotel room in Cinderella Castle. The room was originally going to be an apartment constructed for Walt Disney, but he unfortunately passed away before it had been finished. The designers at Disney World decided to turn it into a hotel room instead. How do you book the room? You can’t. But, every once in a while, a contest is held that allows the winner to stay there for a single night.

Smugglers Run Has a Secret Chewbacca Mode

Star Wars Disney World facts aren’t too hard to come by, but they normally involve the beverages you can find at the cantina, people dressed as Stormtroopers to help with social distancing, and information such as that. However, astute visitors quickly learned that on the Smugglers Run attraction, you can be joined by Chewbacca by completing a sort of code prior to the start of the ride.

Interesting Disney World Facts – Disney World Is a Sunglasses Graveyard

When you think of Disney World, there’s very little chance that the idea of a sunglasses graveyard would ever come to mind. In a way, however, that’s particularly what it is. Every day, an average of 200 pairs of sunglasses end up in the Lost and Found apartment. Well, if this whole movie and TV production thing doesn’t work out, Disney could always open up a huge used sunglasses store.
