Where is Blizzard Beach at Disney World?

Blizzard Beach was first opened on April 1, 1995, as part of Disney’s $1 billion expansion of Walt Disney World. The park was designed by a landscape architect and inspired by the ski resorts of the Rocky Mountains. However, Blizzard Beach closed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, including all 4 Disney theme parks, Disney water parks, and others.

So, where is Blizzard Beach in Disney World, and When Will It Open?

Blizzard Beach will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. starting on Sunday, November 13, and running through December 31.

This park has some of the best rides for kids and adults alike. Whether you’re looking to cool off on a hot summer day or want to enjoy some time in the sun, Blizzard Beach is the perfect place to go.

How Can You Spend a Day at Blizzard Beach at Disney World?

Blizzard Beach is one of the resort’s parks, and it’s famous for its man-made snow on the slopes. These parks are open year-round, although hours vary depending on the season.

Here’s what you need to know about Blizzard Beach before you go:

Theme Park

Blizzard Beach is part of the Walt Disney World Resort theme parks and offers guests many more attractions than just water-based ones. Some of these include the chairlift that takes you up to the top of Mount Gushmore, where you can enjoy a great view of this amazing park, or go down Slush Gusher, a large tube slide that will take you back down to the lower levels.

Summit Plummet

This slide is one of the most popular attractions at Blizzard Beach. It features two drops that plunge riders down into a body of water, where an artificial pool will eject them.

The first drop takes riders up to 60 feet above ground level before they fall into a tunnel, where they will be pushed through by water jets. After this, riders go down another drop that takes them even deeper into the tunnel until they reach its end at 50 feet below ground level.

Teamboat Springs

The Teamboat Springs area is where you’ll find most of the water slides at Blizzard Beach, but there’s also much more to enjoy here than just sliding down a tube. There are pools that kids can splash around in. Visit the lazy river that will take you back up to the front of the park after you’ve gotten wet. If you want something more relaxing, this is one of the best places in Blizzard Beach.

Magic Kingdom

If you want to visit both water parks and still have time for other attractions at Walt Disney World, we suggest visiting Blizzard Beach first in the morning and then going to Magic Kingdom in the afternoon or early evening.

This way, you can enjoy the best parts of both parks without choosing one over another. Plus, this strategy gives you more time for rides at Magic Kingdom because there are fewer crowds during off-peak hours (compared to when everyone heads there at midday).

Polar Pub

The Polar Pub is a great place to grab a quick bite and something cold to drink. It offers indoor and outdoor seating, as well as some TVs so you can watch sporting events while you eat.

The menu features items like burgers, hot dogs, and sandwiches, but plenty of salads and healthier options exist. If you’re looking for something sweet, there are plenty of desserts, too, including several milkshakes that come in different sizes (and flavors).

Wave Pool

The wave pool is one of the longest and is among the attractions at Blizzard Beach. It has waves that come every 10 minutes and can accommodate hundreds of guests.

If you want to get wet without getting slammed around by waves, there are also “calm” areas where you can sit on a tube while floating around in waist-deep water. This is a great place to bring kids who aren’t comfortable going into deeper water or who have never been swimming.

Hollywood Studios

Hollywood Studios is one of four major theme parks at Disney World, and it’s also home to one of the most popular rides at Blizzard Beach—the “Snuggly Duckling.”

Runoff Rapids

As the name suggests, this attraction is a river rapids ride. It’s a large body of water that you can go into. You have to wear a life vest when you get on this ride so that you don’t drown or get hurt in any way.

Depending on how many people are riding together, there are many different types of rafts to choose from. If you have more than two people per raft, then the waves will be smaller and less powerful. However, if you have one person in each raft, then the waves will be much larger and faster. This is one of our favorite rides at Blizzard Beach because it has such a fun atmosphere with tons of kids and families.

Warming Hut

Warming huts are a mainstay at Blizzard Beach, and they’re a great place to stop for a bite to eat or just to get out of the sun for a bit.

The huts are scattered throughout the park, and there are plenty in each area of the park. They have plenty of seating inside and out, so you can grab a snack or lunch (or just rest your feet) while you enjoy views of Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach.

Melt Away Bay

This area is great for people who can’t wait for summer to come back around because it’s filled with slides that get you wet—and we mean really wet.

Downhill Double Dipper

This is a water coaster that will take you on a thrilling ride through the park, as well as through some of the rides and attractions. The ride has been described as one of the best in all of Disney World, and it’s not hard to understand why when you get to experience the tallest and fastest free fall.

How Do You Get to Blizzard Beach at Disney World?

Some of the means include:

  1. Uber

If you have an Uber account, it’s the easiest way to get from your hotel to Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park. The resort is less than 10 minutes from Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Epcot is less than 15 minutes away. If you’re staying off-site and don’t want to spend money on a taxi, this is a great way to get there without worrying about traffic or parking.

  1. Personal Drive

Disney World has a lot of parking garages on the property that are free of charge for guests with valid park admission tickets. You can drive directly into the garage and park there while you enjoy your day at Blizzard Beach. When you’re ready to head back to your hotel, be sure not to leave anything valuable in your car because there have been reports of break-ins at some of these free lots.
