Learn about the changes coming to Disney events during the remainder of 2020.

Every year, millions of visitors take to the road or hit the skies and make their way to the great city of Orlando for fun in the sun at Disney World. Many plan their entire trip around a variety of Disney events that cater to both adults and children alike.

This year, some of the Disney events, along with the park itself, will look different due to the COVID-19 epidemic. Today, let’s take a quick look at what you can expect for these events and the overall Disney World experience.

Parades Will Be Scaled Back for a While

Parades at Disney World have typically been grandiose affairs featuring everything from floats and horses to vehicles and Disney characters. This is often one of the big highlights for a lot of families, but due to health concerns, they have been scaled back to what most would consider being a mini-parade. But don’t worry – there will still be more than enough fun to be had during these particular events.

Mickey’s Halloween Party Cancelled for 2020

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween party may not offer too many frights, even for younger kids, but it’s one of the most celebrated of all Disney events. In fact, many thousands of visitors plan their trip to Disney World around this single event each year, and it’s become an annual tradition. So, it was with a heavy heart that Disney felt the need to cancel the 2020 Halloween event, but they felt that the risk to visitors might be too great.

Epcot Food & Wine Festival Tweaked for 2020

The Epcot International Food & Wine Festival has grown with each passing year, quickly becoming one of the most anticipated of the annual Disney events. In the past, it has kicked off during the spring season, but Disney World has been closed for the entire time period that the event would normally take place. The size and scope should remain the same as that will remote better social distancing, but the opening obviously had to be delayed until the beginning of July.

Other Events Possibly Affected During Pandemic

You should expect that other Disney events throughout 2020 could be either altered or canceled in order to prevent large clusters of visitors where maintaining social distancing would be difficult. Another notable cancellation, for instance, is the Eat to the Beat concert series that many visitors look forward to each year. Such changes should be expected to continue until the pandemic is over.

Social Distancing Guidelines Whenever Possible

The practice of social distancing, where you stay at least six feet apart from others, is one of the best ways to quell the spread of the coronavirus. With all Disney events that continue to take place, social distancing will be enforced. You can expect this to be placed throughout the end of the year and possibly well into 2021.

Wearing Face Masks Will Be Required at the Park

Face masks are equally important to curtail the spread of COVID-19. Therefore, face masks are required throughout the park, including at all of the Disney events. You can bring your own, purchase a set of Disney-themed masks before or after you arrive, or be given a generic one once you’ve entered the park. If wearing a mask gets tiresome, there will be relaxation areas where you can remove the mask and sit down in spots that are spaced 10 feet apart.
