What are some interesting rumors about upcoming Disney World attractions and updates?
For Disney World fans, speculation and Disney World rumors are almost as much fun as planning a Disney World trip. Because there are always Disney World rumors, especially after the D23 Expo ended, it can be fun to speculate what will be coming to Disney World in the future.
Here are five of the most interesting Disney World rumors that are circulating right now.
1) Splash Mountain isn’t going away just yet
The D23 Expo had barely ended when Magic Kingdom fans began buzzing about the end of Splash Mountain and the beginning of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. The theme park was expected to announce the closing of Splash Mountain in order to redesign it.
The Splash Mountain ride has been the subject of a lot of criticism over the last decade because of its ties to Song of the South–which many Disney fans see as offensive. One of the most popular Disney movies in the last 15 years has been The Princess and the Frog, and many Disney park fans were anxious to see a ride based on the movie.
While no announcements were made at D23, if you’re trip planning for Splash Mountain, it appears the ride will still be around for at least a few more months. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is not scheduled to open until early to mid-2024.
2) Don’t hold your breath for the Tron ride
Another Disney World ride have been looking forward to is the Tron Lightcycle Ride. While the Tron ride is up and running in Disney Shanghai, it is not up and running in central Florida. Before you get your Minnie ears in a bunch, the Lightcycle ride is still coming, but the Disney World rumor mill thinks it will be later in 2023 before the ride is open and cast members are hired.
3) Disney Springs will have Breakfast with Santa yearly
While the whole Breakfast with Santa program was discontinued during the pandemic, this holiday season, it will be back. Disney Springs is offering brunch and breakfast options during November and December, and because you don’t need a Disney World ticket to visit, you’ll want to go ahead and book this opportunity now.
It will be at Maria and Enzo’s Ristorante, and there are rumors Santa might show up in the T-Rex Cafe as well. Walt Disney World dining will also include the world showcase at Epcot of holiday foods from all over, so mark your calendars now!
4) Magic Band+ is coming to the Disney Cruise Line
Magic bands are a great way to travel the theme parks with a lighter load. You can access your hotel rooms, make purchases, and get into the parks all with your wristbands. The magic bands have been so popular, the rumor is Disney is going to make Magic + bands available on all Disney cruises by the end of 2023.
5) Guardians of the Galaxy and Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge go on Holiday
If you can imagine the fun of holiday-themed soundtracks on the Guardians of the Galaxy coaster or at the local watering hole in Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge, it looks like you’re in luck. Disney appears to be planning to spruce both these areas up with a holiday theme and holiday music for the festive season.
Of course, these are just a few of the hundreds of rumors swirling around the Disney Company at any given time. The only way you can find out for yourself which rumors are true, and which rumors are not is when you plan to visit the parks yourself.
