A few of our favorite attractions at Animal Kingdom at Disney World.

Animal Kingdom opened in Disney World on Earth Day, April 22nd, 1998. Since then, it has been visited by millions of people who have flocked to the park for its zoological theme and amazing attractions. Disney’s hard work, which included Imagineers traveling to Africa and Asia to study the area and wildlife, has definitely paid off.

The park is filled with many different attractions that are a mix of Disney’s eclectic collection of movies and characters, along with wildlife in the real world. To help you get the most out of your Orlando vacation, we’re going to take a look at some of our favorite Animal Kingdom attractions and then explain how World Class VIP can make your Disney vacation even better.

8 Rides at Animal Kingdom to Check Out

Attractions at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park are some of the greatest in all of Disney World. Most visitors would agree that they could spend an entire day in this themed area, but they still wouldn’t be able to experience everything that it has to offer. It’s definitely one of our favorite parts of Disney World, so we’d like to share what we think are some of the best Animal Kingdom attractions:

Festival of the Lion King

Ever since audiences heard “The Circle of Life” belted out in movie theaters around the globe, The Lion King has been one of Disney’s most celebrated films. The Festival of the Lion King is a spectacular event, giving theme park visitors everything they could ever ask for in a Disney live show.

Between the dancers, singers, costumes, stilt walkers, moving stages, and other amazing features, this is a show that you’ll want to attend every single time you visit. It’s simply one of the best attractions that Disney World has to offer.

Expedition Everest: Legend of the Forbidden Mountain

Disney’s theme parks have featured quite a few famous roller coasters, like Space Mountain and the Matterhorn. But the Disney Imagineers have really done themselves with Expedition Everest: Legend of the Forbidden Mountain. The ride starts off by taking you into the world of a Tibetan village, where you’ll board a train while hearing about the legendary snow monster known as Yeti.

Once the ride begins, you’ll be plunged into total darkness and then race to escape the mythical, growling beast. Parents, keep in mind that the ride may be too intense for little kids because of the high speeds, fast drops, scary effects, and dark areas. Those who can handle it will love this ride.

Dinosaur

Speaking of dark areas, Dinosaur is a dark ride that takes you on a thrilling prehistoric adventure. As you’re whisked through a primeval forest populated with very lifelike dinosaurs, you’ll find yourself on a secret mission through time to retrieve a giant iguanodon and bring it back to the present.

And if you fail? Well, if that happens, we may all become extinct. Strap yourself in for a wild ride as you twist around unpredictable hairpin turns, escape a frightening velociraptor, and avoid a Cearadactylus flying overhead.

Avatar: Flight of Passage

It’s no secret that the Avatar movie series is an absolute phenomenon. The fact that Disney decided to create Pandora: The World of Avatar inside the Animal Kingdom was a no-brainer. There are many wonderful sites to see, with Avatar: Flight of Passage being one of the best!

There’s a very good chance that you’ve already seen the movie, so you probably know that your ride will take place on top of your very own banshee. You’ll be enthralled by the incredible detail of this ride as you soar across the landscape of Pandora on the adventure of a lifetime.

Kilimanjaro Safaris

Calling all animal lovers! Kilimanjaro Safaris is your chance to experience a simulated safari ride through the East African savanna. While you may not actually be on the savanna, you’ll definitely feel like it thanks to the amazing imagination and technical expertise of Disney’s Imagineers. As you make your way through the nearly 20-minute expedition, you’ll have the opportunity to spot a variety of animals, including elephants, zebras, hippopotamuses, crocodiles, rhinos, giraffes, and many others.

Kali River Rapids

No list of our favorite Animal Kingdom attractions would be complete without mentioning the Kali River Rapids. This rafting expedition is unlike any other type of attraction at Disney World and is easily one of the most enjoyable. What starts off as a scenic view of lush vegetation quickly escalates to a world of fast-moving rapids, gorgeous waterfalls, and a 20-foot plunge that will have you holding on like crazy.

Just keep in mind that you’re going to be splashed on—and you might even get soaked! You might want to wear a waterproof poncho and bring along extra clothes or a towel. You can leave your mobile devices and other valuables in a locker.

Na’vi River Journey

The Na’vi River Adventure is another dark ride and the second water excursion on our list. Travel once again to the amazing world of Pandora, where you’ll experience bioluminescent flora, native animals, and complex audio-animatronics.

As you make your way along the mysterious Kasvapan River, you’ll visit caves and a rainforest filled with exotic plants and creatures all around you. Before the adventure is done, you’ll meet the Na’vi Shaman of Songs. They will use the power of her music to project positive energy into the Pandora forest and the world itself.

It’s Tough to be a Bug!

A Bug’s Life may not have reached the popularity of Toy Story, but it’s an endearing (and enduring) tale that continues to find new fans every day. Inspired by The Seven Samurai and The Magnificent Seven, the story follows heroic ant Flik as he tries to save his colony from the villainous grasshopper called, what else?, Hopper.

In Animal Kingdom’s 3D short film It’s Tough to Be a Bug!, Flik hosts the show as the audience is shown why insects should be considered friends. The show incorporates various bugs, such as termites and stink bugs, along with everyone’s favorite arachnid, the tarantula. The story may be short, but it’ll stay with you for a very long time.
